working for me(n)

“whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
-colossians 3:23

that verse is a favorite because i’m a perfectionist and it’s a good reminder to focus on the Lord rather than men, which has always been a struggle for me.

this time when i read it, i noticed ‘me’ in the word ‘men.’ oh crap.

forget working for men- how often do i work for myself rather than the Lord?

i have been stressed out, burned out, and running around like a chicken with my head cut off at work lately- all in the name of trying to get everything done.

yes there’s a lot to do, and it’s all important, but that doesn’t give me the right to sinfully stress and worry.

enough is enough. God is sovereign and will accomplish His will regardless, so it’s time to confess my pride and work for Him.

easier said than done, but that’s the attitude i’m approaching today with, trusting Him to take care of the rest.

So true in every area of our lives…not just at work, but at home and everywhere our day takes us. Thanks for the reminder, Caitlin!

Mmm, truth! Easier said than done, but at least we don’t have to rely on our own strength, right? :)
