the best

“she does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.”

proverbs 31:12

this is the verse i’ve chosen to memorize for the first half of the month. i wanted to share it with you because one of the ladies i’m doing this study with discovered something profound and i can’t get it out of my head:

“The word “harm” in v12 can also mean “inferior quality,” so, if I’m not giving my husband THE BEST, then I’m not doing my job! Ouch!!”

ouch indeed! i love (and also hate) that when i memorize a verse God tends to give me an opportunity to put it to good use. i hope that i’ll become better at giving troy the best quality in all i do for him.

I know, right? It makes me cringe/want to be that way all at the same time!

something a friend of mine pointed out to me recently…. “all the days of her life” this means, before you even meet your husband…are you doing him good, not harm? are you praying for him? are you guarding your heart for him? protecting your purity? you don’t have to be married to him yet {or even know him yet!} to do him good and not harm….thought it was a GREAT point.
    {BTW LOVE that dress….saw it online and am seriously coveting it….wait, weren’t we JUST talking about scriptural things? eesh…..}

Ooooh, did you get some gifts for modeling? I noticed your white pants were from Bloom, as well as this dress that Kendi also recently wore! You look fantastic.

And I’m going to be chewing on the connotation for “harm” for a bit…

Great dress even better message! I’ve recently been studying the Proverbs 31 woman and trying to model my wife and mother skills after her.

    • Caitlin June 6, 2012 at 8:45 PM

Me too! Well, wife skills since we don’t have any kids yet. I can practice on my dog though, right? Seriously though, she is amazing.

      • Life Exquisite June 6, 2012 at 8:52 PM

LOL, I practiced on my dog and cat before kids! Pet’s are great training for kids!

I love the verse you’ve chosen. I pray this for my girl AND boys every single day….that they will do good and not harm all the days of their lives to God and their future spouses.

    Your dress is beautiful.

    • Caitlin June 6, 2012 at 8:45 PM

Carly- I love that you pray that for your boys, too. What a great mama you are!
