{Remix Rewear Restyle} Maxi

remix rewear restyle maxi sized

 tank {old navy, similar-ish} / skirt {hand me down} / sandals {target} / bag {china market}

Happy Monday, friends! Welcome to the first Remix Rewear Restyle, a weekly Instagram/blog remix to showcase how you style a specific item. My hope is to challenge you {as well as myself!} to remix items already in our closets and gain inspiration from others.

First up: maxis! One of my favorite ways to wear mine is with a simple tank and sparkly sandals. It makes the Texas summer a little more bearable.

How to share your look:

  • Post a photo of your remix and use the hashtag #remixrewearrestyle.

  • Shoot me an e-mail at skidmore.caitlin@gmail.com with your look/collage. Please leave your name as you want it posted and a blog link if you have one. I’ll add them to the post later on today.

Next week’s theme (June 10): floral.

Please leave your suggestion for the following week below!

Linking up at The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday!

pleated poppy

red and white and polka dotted all over

this month, i’m studying proverbs 31:13-14.

“she seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands.

 she is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar.”

my daily life differs from mrs. p31, to be sure, but i’ve taken inspiration from these verses in a couple of ways:

  • seeking. the definition is to try to find or discover by searching or questioning, so this month, i’m looking at my productivity. what do i do that works? what do i do simply because it’s a habit? what things could i automate? {this kind of thing is absolutely fascinating to me.}
  • checking my motives. i don’t struggle with being willing to work very often, but i tend to get wrapped up in my to do list and lose sight of everything else. because of that, i’m also making a ‘to be’ list.
  • meal planning. i’m looking at how i plan and shop and what our family eats.

i’m learning so much my brain feels like it’s going to explode! here’s to a happy and productive week {and no brains exploding.}

my closet is overwhelming me

sweater, skinnies and a statement necklace

being able to shop again is weird. the even weirder thing?

my closet, with its newest additions, is incredibly overwhelming. my brain has so many new combinations speeding through it i’m having a hard time focusing and picking something to wear for the day. (don’t worry, i’m making myself. no going without clothes here.)

since my initial shopping trip, i’ve added two items to my closet:

  • the perfect tan belt {the exact one i’d wanted at target on sale for $5!}
  • and a pair of black and gold earrings. {one of my most-worn color combos. also on a ridiculous sale at target.}

i have yet to wear either…

rest is not a dirty word

pop of color

the other day, a friend of mine was praying and said, ‘david said You led him beside still waters. help us to be understanding when others around us need rest and teach us how to be still in our own lives.’

i really needed to hear that. our God rested and we should, too.

it is ok to rest. no matter what your head or our bigger, faster, better culture says.

these are a few of my favorite things

it’s no secret i’m like a squirrel hoarding nuts with ideas and evernote. i clip all kinds of things that i might want to refer to tomorrow…or somewhere down the road. here are some of the coolest ones i came across last month {you are welcome for not sharing all 1,493,859.75 of them}:

  • year27 {this site features illustrated verses with a purpose. jill, the author and designer, is helping translate a book of the Bible through her site.}
  • the two minute tuck {brilliant for a bad hair day.}
  • font squirrel {free fonts for personal or commercial use!}

a lip liner how to

mixed textures

i’ve never used lip liner in my life.

but the lip sticks i’ve gotten always run away.

do yours? {because if they do, you’d better go catch them.}

seriously though, do they? {and did you ever make that prank phone call about a refrigerator running away? because i…didn’t. really. i promise. no prank phone calling on this end…}

anyway, maybe y’all are pros and don’t need this advice, but for the rest of you out there, clear lip liner is amazing. you can use it with any color to keep it inside the lines and all you have to do is trace the outside-ish line of your lips and then apply the lipstick. i didn’t have any trouble getting the crisp lines i’ve admired for so long. and it stayed all day.

a post in which i struggle to pluralize ‘series’ and talk about love and stuff

valentine’s day is around the corner and i’ve been writing about trying to love troy with my thoughts, words, and actions, so i wanted to share a few of my favorite books and sermon series {serieses? serii? anyone? anyone? bueller? bueller?} on love and marriage.

i wish that i’d read these before/at the very beginning of our marriage, because they’ve taught me so much and helped me become a better wife. regardless, they’re great resources at any point in your relationship. {even if you’re not married, i highly recommend them.}

want to share a favorite of yours? please leave it in a comment below!

have a lovely thursday night, my dears!
