Fall Capsule Wardrobe: Recap

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix: Recap

The purpose of the Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix was to remember how to dress for the new season, appreciate and remix what we already have in our closets and take the time to figure out what {if anything} would be a good addition to our wardrobes.

I still have outfit ideas from these pieces, so taking the time to be intentional with what I have paid off. What about you? Has this remix inspired you to shop your own closet?

I don’t need to add anything, but if I find any of these, they’ll probably join my wardrobe:

  • A pair of dark green skinnies {to pair with boots and cozy sweaters};
  • A colored crew neck top {preferably a t-shirt or a long sleeve version {this one is pretty} to pair with statement necklaces and completer pieces};
  • Another colored cardigan. I had to get rid of my hunter green one because it was worn out, and a bold completer piece creates multiple new outfits. {I’m thinking red or cobalt this time.}

What pieces do you have your eye on?

Fall Capsule Wardrobe: Bonus Week

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Bonus Week

I’ve loved getting to talk fall looks and remixes with you for the past couple of weeks!

It never ceases to amaze me how many outfit combinations just a few pieces can create. In light of Greater, I chose to push myself and come up with an additional 5 outfits. Tune in tomorrow for all 35 looks in one spot.

As this series draws to a close, what are some things you’d like to hear more about? How to better use what’s in your closet? What pieces to add? How to shop thrift and consignment stores? Something else? Help me turn this into a place where we can hone our remixing skills together!

Now…on to the details.

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix: Week 5

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Week 5

I’ve been watching a lot of What Not to Wear lately (well done, Netflix!) and I never get tired of watching the amazing changes that occur inside of people because of a few outside tweaks.

A friend asked me recently if I thought there was anything wrong with the confidence she finds in feeling put together and having a cute outfit on. Absolutely not! Granted, we shouldn’t find our worth in feeling attractive or base it on other people’s opinions, but something happens in your mind when you care for yourself outwardly. When I dress well, I have more energy, feel confident, and turn my thoughts to other, more important things.

In case you’re thinking in your head “Sure, that would be great if I had a ton of money,” stop that thought train right there! Dressing well doesn’t have to be expensive. None of the items I’m wearing above cost more than $30, several of them were free, and the majority cost less than $10.

As this series draws to a close, what are some things you’d like to hear more about? How to better use what’s in your closet? What pieces to add? How to shop thrift and consignment stores? Something else? Help me turn this into a place where we can hone our remixing skills together!

That being said, in the spirit of Greater, I’m going to remix a few more outfits from these pieces for next Friday. I want to show you how I plan to transition them to fall temperatures once these 90’s go away! {Please, Lord, let it be soon.} Fellow remixionistas- you are welcome to join me, but I will also post a link up on Saturday to show all 30ish outfits in one spot. I hope you’ll join so we can see your entire remix, too!

Now…on to the details.

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix: Week 4

Ready or not, it’s already week 4 of the Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix. I still have a few looks to go to complete my 30, but I’m thinking I may throw a bonus week in there to create some of the outfits I’ve been wanting to but haven’t braved because of the heat. Now that it’s finally cooling down around here, I want to utilize some of the warmer pieces in my remix. Thoughts? Suggestions? Would you be interested in seeing a few additional looks?

In case you’re just joining us, the goal of our remix is to remember how to dress for the new season, appreciate and remix what we already have in our closets and take the time to figure out what {if anything} would be a good addition to our wardrobes.

I’ve found that when a piece works well in one outfit, I’m inspired to create additional looks with it.

  • During Week 1, I utilized the heck out of my white tank. {Thank you, 100+ degree Texas temps.}
  • My striped sweater was the go-to for Week 2’s remix- since adding this baby to my closet I probably have grabbed it at least once a week. It’s a closet staple.
  • Week 3 was tie between my checked button up and maroon pants. I foresee lots of fall and winter remixes in their futures.
  • This week, the trouser jeans won out {I promise I washed them in between!} I’ve been in a skinny pants rut for a while, so breaking the mold feels good.

What pieces do you rely on heavily?

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix: Week 3

How is it already week 3 of the Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix?!

The goal of our remix is to remember how to dress for the new season, appreciate and remix what we already have in our closets and take the time to figure out what {if anything} would be a good addition to our wardrobes.

So far, it’s been the hottest month of the year in Texas. Not ideal for a fall remix, but it’s been a great push to utilize what I’ve got and realize I could come up with well over 30 outfits from my 20 pieces.

And miracle of all miracles, today is rainy and in the SEVENTIES, so you better believe I’ve broken out my boots and blazer! Overkill? Yes. Do I care? Not a bit. It’s fall, y’all!

Here are my looks from week 3:

Some of my favorite details are hard to see, so here are a couple of close ups.

Pairing masculine and feminine pieces is a great way to remix what you have. A super sparkly necklace pops against any button up.

#remixtip Mix Girly & Masculine Pieces

Pattern mixing is another great way to restyle an outfit. Because animal print is made up of neutral colors, it reads as one. Pair this classic print with polka dots, stripes, or plaid for a fun pattern mix.

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix: Week 2

Welcome to week 2 of the Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix!

The goal of our remix is to remember how to dress for the new season, appreciate and remix what we already have in our closets and take the time to figure out what {if anything} would be a good addition to our wardrobes.

This week I started layering {barely} and braving my booties. If I dress for fall, will that make it come faster?

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix: Week 1

The Fall Capsule Wardrobe Remix is heeeeeeeeeere! If you want to join but haven’t, it’s not too late. I made up some rules, but they’re really just guidelines, so pick out your pieces and link them up!

The goal of our remix is to remember how to dress for the new season {if fall temperatures will ever show their faces}, appreciate and remix what we already have in our closets and take the time to figure out what {if anything} would be a good addition to our wardrobes. It’s always inspiring to see how others remix what they have, and we can cheer each other on as we go!

It’s been so hot here that I’ve been stretching to remix what I’ve got as seasonal transition pieces. My tanks have been working over time, and I’m really glad I included them. Almost all of these looks are from a glorious staycation we had last weekend. {And yes, I shamelessly wore the same pieces two days in a row and just mixed up the accessories. We are real here, people.}

I also have to confess, I had another look to show you, but it includes my white jeans which got some sort of blue stain all over them between the time I wore them and the time I went to take pictures…fingers crossed that bleaching them works and I’ll have some extra pictures to share next week.
