Style Trial: Opposites Attract

Do you think about what types of pieces you put together when you get dressed?

Mixing and matching totally different items (think casual and fancy, feminine and masculine, structured and flowy) gives you tons of visual interest, and can make a look feel polished and purposeful even if it only took you two minutes to throw it on.

In this look, I paired a sparkly necklace with my standard weekend uniform of stripes, jeans, and my utility jacket, but any laid back + dressy piece will do!

Give it a try this week: create an outfit that has at least one casual piece and one fancier piece.

You're a gem

New to GTR? We’re so glad you’re here!

Do you have a closet full of clothes but feel like you have nothing to wear?

Most of us wear 20% of our closet 80% of the time and are bored stiff with our outfits. Your style should help your personality shine and highlight your beauty! But getting from stuck-in-a-rut to feeling pretty and put together can feel overwhelming.

If you’ve been meaning to figure out your style for a while, start with something small, like a Style Trial, to set yourself up for success. Use the weekly Style Trial challenge to shop your closet for a new-to-you outfit! Sign up here to make sure you get each one (plus more fun, free goodies to help you create a style you love!)

If you’re looking for more, here are a few ways to make your closet work harder for you:

  • Challenge yourself to think outside the box. These tips are designed to work no matter your style, shape, or life stage. It’s ok if we’re not style twins. :) Use the ideas as a starting point, and make them work for your life!
  • Try it out…literally! Even if the tip doesn’t feel like you, challenge yourself to put together a “new” look and put it on your body. If you don’t like the way your outfit looks, you don’t have to wear it out of the house!
  • Focus on progress, not perfection! Remember, one tiny step usually leads to more. You’ve got this, gorgeous!

Here’s the link to get each new Style Trial delivered straight to your inbox.
