spies among us (day 13)

i love that my dad saves articles like this for me from the wall street journal. he knows me so well.

the article was fascinating, actually. they discussed how colored denim gives women (and men) another reason to buy not only colored jeans, but “has ‘reinvigorated’ sales of related styles, such as chambray tops and denim jackets, that people buy to wear with their radiant new jeans.” (dave demattei of lucky brand)

you guys, i’m pretty sure they’re spying on us. i feel like every other outfit i pin has colored jeans or a chambray top in it…

although their cleverness almost makes me not like them, i do like that they inspired me to transform these to these to these, and some of the styling tips they give are great!

  • wear them with a top in the same color or tone (tim mora of j. crew)
  • pair with a white or neutral top and colorful accessories
  • pair with a crisp tailored jacket and good shoes

how can i be mad when they give me ideas for remixing? i can’t. in reality, it’s my urge to buy things that needs to be tamed. as with most things in life, shopping trends can be good in moderation.

but what about you? what’s your favorite way to style colored jeans or your chambray top? i can’t wait to wear mine again when this month is over!

ps if you want to read the article, click here.

pps i’m pretty sure this outfit is my favorite so far. i loved it all day and i was really tempted to wear it again today.

ppps i hope you have a great day!

Thanks so much, Amber! I’m also a tad obsessed with white jeans.

I have to say, I love your recent “Overcome” post. I was listening to the song and BELTING it earlier. I love that He has already overcome!

I have a thrifted man’s Oxford shirt which is very similar to a chambray shirt. I love to wear it “quarter tucked” like Merrick in outfit #10 here:

My only colored jeans are gray skinnies (I’m not very brave with color yet) but I do love the way they look with yellow!

    • Caitlin June 13, 2012 at 8:25 PM

      1. Oo I’m going to have to search for a thrifted Oxford once the challenge is over.
      2. I haven’t gotten brave enough to try the quarter tuck yet, but this month would be a great time to start!
      3. Love gray and yellow- great choice!

      Have a great night, lady!

This is is such a good outfit. Lately I’m really crushing on relaxed but put together looks like this. As much as I love colored jeans, white skinnies are a must on my summer shopping list.
