september musings

this post is scary for me to write. but i’m done allowing fear and laziness to hold me captive.

this year (now 9 months in) of fasting from shopping for myself has changed my life. forever. but it has also left me hungry.

hungry for more…of less. less of me and more of Christ. less selfishness and more giving. less time spent on autopilot and more on being intentional. less pinterest and instagram and more time reading and going to the gym.

so this month’s musings are a sort of confession, i guess. a confession that i’m a bit of a mess, and that it is a struggle for me not to portray a sense of ‘having-it-all-togetherness’ at all times, at all costs. when really, i know that no one is perfect, least of all myself. it’s a giving-of-permission to be on a journey rather than pressure to be complete right this second.

i want to write about that journey, so greater than rubies is going to change a bit to to go deeper and wider.

i might deviate from this list from time to time, but let’s be honest- i love order, so here’s what i’ve dreamt up:

  • love {things i’m reading and learning about in my relationships with God and everyone else}
  • home {the journey of learning how to make and keep one}
  • health {adventures in cooking and eating well and frugally}
  • style {a little of mine as well as tips and tricks relating to everything wearable}
  • create {diys of all sorts with a splash of work-related things thrown in}

deep breath. well friends, there it is. the messiness and musings that have been rumbling around my head this month. they’re not complete, but in the spirit of being honest about my journey, there they are.

    Sounds good to me! While I love seeing your outfits, it’s YOU that keeps me reading – your honesty, humor, and sweetness are why I love your blog. I read because you’re my friend, even if I don’t know you “in real life”.
