How to Transition Seasons Wisely

How to Transition Seasons Wisely

Style File I Greater Than Rubies with McKinney Magazine

How do you transition your closet from one season to the next?

I used to feel like I had to run out and buy the latest trends to have anything worth wearing. And then my “had to haves” would hang, unworn, because I purchased them without considering how they would fit my life or play with the rest of my closet.

The truth is, if you invest in classic pieces, thoughtfully adding a few trendy accessories and a new cut or color, you’ll spend less and have more outfit options.

My tips on transitioning your wardrobe into spring are on page six of this month’s McKinney Magazine. Click through to view my suggestions, and share yours below!

Happy weekend, friends!

The good news is that because I live in SoCal, I don’t really have much transitioning between seasons and can pretty much access most of my wardrobe any time of the year. The bad news is that this means I shop nonstop all year because trends no know season. I’m actually vowing to be more “quality over quantity” this year, with next month being Moratorium March since I overspent my budget by six months (thus the new vow; my hubby is not pleased). I guess I now have to literally “shop me closet”, eh?

Btw, come check out today’s post on my blog. I nominated you for an award. Please don’t feel obligated to do much with it except bask in the fact that you’re super cool. I really just wanted to recognize my peeps, and I am honored to consider you one of them.

Ah SoCal. It must be wonderful. But yes, also definitely a potential danger for the pocketbook :D That’s a fantastic resolution! I’m in the same boat with my 1 piece per month, so we’ll be shopping our closets together! Looking forward to getting inspiration from you!

And thank you, that is so sweet. I’ll head over to check it out. I’m so glad that Selah introduced us!

Layers, layers, layers! Mainly I use my extensive collection of cardigans to wear all my summer tanks/short sleeve tops in the winter. I also wear a lot of scarves, since they can work in any season!

Yep, light weight cardigans & button-down shirts are perfect transitional pieces! I also agree with what Caitlin says in the article about dark & light colored accessories.
