saved by the calendar

organization and me? some would say we’re like cookies and milk…mickey and minnie…pb and j. (inseparable.)

i love productivity tips, finding new ways to save time, getting e-mails with titles like “your ‘get it together’ checklist.” they get my heart pounding and my brain spinning. (i know i have a problem. admitting is the first step, right?)

honestly though, i don’t enjoy cleaning as much as i like the feeling of a clean, well-kept home.

but sometimes it’s just plain hard to juggle everything that’s going on and keep up the house. one of the best things i’ve ever done is make an automated cleaning schedule.

i made a list of everything i wanted to clean and organize- from weekly to annual jobs. for the less-frequent tasks, i added instructions. then i put it all on repeat. automating it means you never have to use up valuable brain space thinking about when you need to wash the coffee pot or change the air filter- or how to do said task.

since i created that separate google calendar for everything cleaning-related, my house is cleaner and my brain is freer. win-win.

ps can you tell from today’s title i’ve been watching saved by the bell reruns on netflix? random fact: kelly kapowski is also elizabeth burke on white collar. another netflix favorite. (see, extra brain space.)

Girl… are you my soulmate? I’m an Excel spreadsheet-making, calendar-syncing, color-coding crazy person. I mean, I have a recurring alarm set for when I need to change the air filter in my apartment.

    I love this post :)

This is so OCD. And I love it. I soo wish I was that organized!!
Seriously going to have to set my mind to it and try and do something like that. We’ll see how it goes…

Why yes, yes it is :) Good luck! I’m telling you, it’s worth it. Have a great weekend, Kirsten!

Wow, you go girl. My life is a disorganized mess – I need one of those automatic reminder things. You wanna just send me yours?

Hmm…I could make a list of it all. An upcoming blog post, perhaps?

I think that would be awesome!

Hmm . . . I should do something like this. I use an app called 2Do for all my everyday activities/appointments, etc. but I don’t have anything set up for less frequent jobs. Since we are hoping to sell our house next year I really need to get on the ball with some deep cleaning/organizing/purging.
Have you ever read any of Julie Morgenstern’s stuff? Excellent organization/time management resources!

Oo so fun! And a great excuse to get cleaning/organizing/purging. :) I haven’t, but I will definitely have to check her out. Thanks for the link, Selah!
