singing of necklaces

if you’ve read my blog for more than a day, you’ve probably figured out that i love a good statement necklace. it’s an easy way to dress up an outfit. (proof: i copied elaine’s look here. kendi’s look here. a spinoff of rachel’s look here. oh no. you’ve figured out that i don’t actually dress myself…i copy others. :/ we can still be friends, right?)

here are a few neckalces i’m trying to figure out how to add in to my wardrobe. without spending any moolah of course. (mom, that means i’m coming to raid your fabric scraps.)

i could keep going. but alas, i must be off to work. (alas sounds like i don’t want to go. i do.) have a lovely thursday!

Just wanted to say I read your blog daily and you are doing so well! You inspire me to make the most of what I already have in my closet. Keep up the good work!

I’ve really been wanting some bracelets lately. Instead of spending I’m going to ask my Mom if she’ll let me have or borrow some of my grandmother’s old jewelry. If not, bracelets will go on my waiting wish list for 1-2 months while I shop around online to find the best styles/deals. Ooh, Mother’s Day is in 6 weeks, now I have a great idea for when my husband asks what I want :)

Have you considered a jewelry or clothing swap with friends? I know Audrey has done that a few times.

That’s a wonderful idea! I’m so excited; my mom just let me borrow a few of her grandma’s pearl pieces. When they have sentiment attached I feel like they’re even more beautiful.

I have; it’s not something I’ve done before, but I’d like to at some point. Thanks for the great suggestion! Have a wonderful weekend!

Have you checked out BaubleBar? Soooooo many fabulous statement pieces!

I hadn’t, but I took a look and they have great pieces! I saved their site to come back to in January. I think a few of their items may eventually make their way into my closet. :) Thanks so much for the suggestion!!

You look so stylish and beautiful, even without buying new things! I love all of your outfits! (Found you through Pleated Poppy.) I resonate with your thoughts on the challenge. I, too, have been thinking a lot about what I buy and why…to satisfy an urge, to make me feel more fill-in-the-blank. And really, I just want to please Jesus. The battle is hard.

We are on a spending freeze for the next two months as we prepare for a trip for Europe…I know, that seems like a easy sacrifice. :) But I’m discovering as you are the fun of making what I have work. It’s like a game.

Lara, thank you! You’re so sweet. It is such a hard battle! But so worth fighting, don’t you think? :)

That sounds like fun! And I agree; it is like a game! Good luck and have a wonderful vacation! (Can you pack me in your suitcase please?)
