{Remix Rewear Restyle} Winter Layers

{Remix Rewear Restyle} Winter Layers

Happy Monday eve, remixinistas!

If you’re new, Remix Rewear Restyle is a weekly challenge to remix, rewear, and restyle your closet. It’s a lot more fun to experiment with stepping out of your comfort zone and clothing ruts when you do it with friends. Don’t worry about being right or wrong- there aren’t any rules except to include a piece that fits the challenge. So go shop that closet and link up your look!

Winter layers are a great opportunity to remix your closet.

My favorite winter outfit equation is a sweater + completer piece {leather jacket in this look} + scarf + skinnies + boots. Change out any one of these pieces and you’ve got an entirely different look. For example, I could switch my jacket for a blazer or my booties for a pair of cognac riding boots.

A few other layering combinations I’ve seen everywhere this year are:

  • giant blanket scarves;
  • square pattern mixing {like gingham + stripes or buffalo check + plaid};
  • and unexpected layers, like as a turtleneck under a sweater, or two button ups with a cardigan and a vest on top.

To see all of these plus a few more winter looks, check out my winter outfit pinboard. {Confession: I rarely think up an outfit on my own…Hi, my name is Caitlin and I’m an outfit stealer.}

Now, let’s see your winter layer looks!

Coming up:

12.30 shimmer & sparkle for day
January: a 20 for 30 remix!

    My winter layers outfit also happens to work for next week’s daytime sparkle theme (hello, bedazzled sweatshirt!). I also LOVE pattern mixing layers, so I might be adding a bonus look later in the week. :)

      Fun! Great! Bring it on :)

        Ugh – life and weather has not cooperated with me, but at least I got one up.

    Cute!!! It’s funny to me you girls taking “winter” outfit photos outdoors… bare ankles and all! If I tried to take mine outside, you wouldn’t be able to see my face through the steam coming out of my mouth! There’s definitely no going outside without a coat and some screaming about how cold it is! The snow would probably make a pretty backdrop, though. :)

      Lol! Well, it was that way a couple of weeks ago and will probably be that way again next week. Having grown up in the north, I love having a warmer winter. Hope you’re staying warm and not having to scream about the cold too much! :)

    I really like the bold scarf with all the neutrals! Lots of great layering looks here.
    What is the weather like during a Texas winter? Winter in the South just boggles my mind. We’ve had mostly single digit days and below zero nights/mornings around here the last week and a half. Unusual for December but normal for January.

      Brr!! It depends. Yesterday it was in the 60’s, but the past couple of weeks, the high has been in the 30’s. Not cold compared to what you all go through, but it sure feels frigid now that my blood has thinned! I’m a huge wuss when it comes to the cold now. :) Hope you’re staying warm, Amy!

    I love this outfit! It seems like this has been my winter uniform for the past couple months too :)

      Thank you, Marla! It’s just such an easy one to pull together but look polished. Hope you have a fantastic weekend!

    Oh my! Everyone talking about the cold. I’d love some snow around here! Southern California has been 70s and 80s the past few days. We should cool down again…and by that I mean a high of 60. I wish it were colder. I have coats that never come out of the closet unless I travel. I guess the grass is always greener…
    I love the scarf by the way. Is that an infinity scarf or did you tie it?

    • Caitlin Author December 20, 2013 at 7:24 AM

      Wow! So nice and cozy. I must admit, I do enjoy the medium Texas climate. I don’t miss the harsh northern winters, but it’s fun to be able to layer without roasting. Hopefully you’ll get a little cooler weather so you can layer a little more :)

      Thank you! Nope; I tied it and tucked the ends in.
