{Remix Rewear Restyle} Pastels

remix rewear restyle pastels edition

Happy Monday, friends! Welcome to Remix Rewear Restyle, a new weekly Instagram/blog remix to showcase how you style a specific item. My hope is to challenge you {as well as myself!} to remix items already in our closets and gain inspiration from others.

This week’s remix: pastels.

One of my greatest remixing weapons is a scarf. It can totally change the look and feel of an outfit. This multi-colored one adds some pop to an otherwise basic outfit. A lightweight scarf is also a great way to add layers in the summer without feeling like you’re roasting over an open flame.

Tank {Old Navy} / Shorts {The Limited} / Scarf {J. Crew Outlet}
Sandals {DSW} / Purse {Chinese Market} / Bracelet {Target}

Now it’s your turn! How to share your look:

Via Instagram:

  • Post a photo of your remix and use the hashtag #remixrewearrestyle.

On the blog:

  • Shoot me an e-mail at skidmore.caitlin@gmail.com with your look/collage. Please leave your name as you want it posted and a blog link if you have one. I’ll add them to the post tomorrow!
  • A little change for the future: please send me your looks by Monday at noon and I’ll post them all together on Monday night! {Sorry for the delay today…we were traveling back from my sister-in-law and new brother-in-law’s wedding!}

Next Monday’s theme (July 8): pattern mixing.

Pattern mixing can be intimidating, but don’t let it stop you from coming up with a new outfit from your closet. My look above mixes a printed scarf and striped shorts, but from a distance the shorts look like they’re one color. Still nervous? Pair a smaller print with a larger one, and stay in the same color family, and you’re good to go.

Please leave your idea for the next remix below in the comments!

    My top really is a peplum – there is an elastic seam under the belt. :) I added the belt as a focal point.
    I’m so glad you got a lot of participants this week! It’s fun to see so many different takes on the theme.
    Yay for pattern-mixing! It’s funny, I’m timid about a lot of things in fashion, but not pattern-mixing. I love it! I have two brand new patterned skirts to work with – this should be fun!
    Is your bracelet a recent Target purchase? I want to go to my local Target to look at jewelry. Every cute necklace and bracelet I’ve seen lately seems to be from Target.

      Love your outfit Selah!

        Thank you Emily!

      I’ll go fix that. It is so cute with the belt!

      Can’t wait to see what you come up with for pattern mixing!

      I got the bracelet a couple months ago on clearance…I couldn’t find it online, but you might have luck if they haven’t cleared it out yet. It was less than $5!

    Color blocking would be a fun remix. I was also thinking that it might be fun to do a summer hat remix sometime in the next month or so. I’ve been loving hats lately!

      Love those ideas! Thanks, Amy!

    What a pretty scarf! Finding a summer scarf that’s lightweight but not flimsy is tricky to me, but J.Crew’s are always perfect. Love this outfit!

    like to shoot you an e-mail. I’ve got some ideas for your
    blog you might be interested in hearing. Either way, great blog and I look forward to seeing it improve over time.
