Remix Rewear Restyle I Repair

Remix Rewear Restyle I Repair

Happy Monday, y’all!

How was your weekend? The weather here was nothing short of glorious, so we tried to take advantage of it with long-overdue yard work (we were those neighbors with the jungle of weeds in our yard…oops), the most gorgeous outdoor wedding (Seriously, breathtaking. I’ve got a few latergrams to post this week, and if you’re planning your wedding, the bride had some amazing ideas. You might want to follow along for some inspiration), and a cookout with family to top it all off.

In honor of this week’s remix, I also spent some time re-dying my favorite dark wash skinnies to keep them looking chic rather than shabby.

Today, we’re sharing items we’ve repaired or updated to extend their life. I’m excited to hear your ideas and learn a few tricks myself! Later this week, as promised, I’ll share a tutorial on exactly how I dye my pieces, as well as a few tips and suggestions (ahem…what not to do) I’ve learned along the way.

This particular remix was inspired by Redress. They host monthly challenges to inspire sustainable fashion and encourage people to ‘redress’ items rather than throw them away. Their goal is to call attention to the impact our clothing choices have on the environment. Just the tiny bit I’ve peeked into the subject has made it clear that limiting purchases and disposal even slightly can have incredible effects. Beyond that, it’s a great place to look for outfit inspiration!

If you’re new, we’re excited you’re here! Remix Rewear Restyle is a weekly challenge to shop your closet and show us how you style a certain piece. Don’t worry about being right or wrong- there aren’t any rules except to include a piece that fits the challenge. So go shop that closet and link up your look!

I love using a bold necklace to frame the face.
It’s also a great way to provide more coverage if you feel a little bare with a neckline.

Alright, ladies, let’s see your repairs and hear your tips and tricks
for how to breathe new life into your pieces! Link up below.

Haha, I spent several hours pulling weeds this weekend too – our yard wasn’t any worse than anyone else’s but it needed to be done. Easter Sunday was really nice this year – Church, brunch, bookstore!
I thought your necklace was part of the blouse at first – they look perfect together!

I’m so glad you had a nice Easter, Selah! And thanks! I was pretty pleased with this particular combination. It made me feel like I was literally shopping my closet because of that effect.

I’m jealous that your jeans last long enough to re-dye. I usually wear a few holes into my jeans before they start looking shabby enough to dye them. Anyways, I had a GREAT idea for this week’s challenge but it involves taking a dress to a seamstress to make it into a skirt…and I didn’t have time to find a seamstress. I do plan on following through and putting my results on the blog one of these days, though!

What a fantastic idea, Whitney! I hope you’ll let us know when you do get around to it!

That chiffon blouse is gorgeous as are the shoes. The necklace pairs perfectly too.

Though I don’t comment often, I stop by here a lot Caitlin since I enjoy your blog. I will remember to link up soon with a piece I’ve remixed. I invite you to stop over my blog now, too.

    Happy Monday, Ada. =)

Thanks for your kind words, Ada! I’m so glad you’re here, and hope that you do link up soon! We’d love to have you :)

I’m not crafty when it comes to clothes can’t sew a straight stitch to save my life – so I thought I’d have to pass up on this linkup again. But Selah gave me a grand idea, so if it’s okay that I didn’t do it myself and if it’s okay that it’s several days old, I went ahead and linked an outfit that utilizes what a top that was once a dress. Hope that’s okay.

And your OOTD is quite fetching. I love how the necklace actually looks like it’s part of the top.

Maricel- that’s totally ok! I want to inspire you to think outside the box, which you do frequently! Don’t worry about doing it “wrong.” You can’t :) Hope you have a fantastic week, my dear!

I love how creative people are being with this remix! I really like that necklace too, Caitlin. By the way, how are you doing in the 12 pieces over one year challenge? We haven’t heard much about that in a while, it seems like.

    • Caitlin Author April 23, 2014 at 7:36 AM

I do too, Amy! You’re right- you haven’t! I’m planning to put the last couple month’s finds and thoughts into an upcoming post, so stay tuned! :)
