Remix Rewear Restyle I Hats

Remix Rewear Restyle I Hats

Greater Than Rubies

I have a confession. I’m pretty comfortable with most styles, but it took me a long time to get up the courage to wear a hat.

In fact, Troy bought me a fedora probably 3 years ago, and I finally wore it in public last year. I was self conscious and felt like people would judge  me for wearing a hat. Those words look ridiculous written out, but I know from talking with some of you, you’ve felt the same way. We know we shouldn’t care so much, and we don’t want to, but sometimes that’s harder said than done.

Once I started wearing the hat, I loved it, and I wish I’d just done it instead of giving in to worrying so much. There are a lot more important things to spend time and energy on. Sometimes you just need a nudge to step out of that comfort zone, so here I am, nudging you. :)

Deciding to wear that certain item may feel scary, but try it this week. Maybe start with a trip to the store where you won’t know anyone. Or to an event with a close friend that you know will encourage you. Taking risks with something as small as an item of clothing can give you courage to try other things you’ve been dreaming about but holding back from. Think of your closet as a pair of training wheels for pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.

Here’s my latest hat look and proof that I’ve been obsessed lately:

Greater Than Rubies

I love wearing simple things with my hat, like a button down, tank, or tee.

Greater Than Rubies

This t-shirt dress is another of my favorite things to pair it with. Simple, but pulled together.

Greater Than Rubies

I think I’ve worn some version or another of this look about 83 times already this summer! :)

Greater Than Rubies

Your turn! Pick something from your closet today you’ve wanted to wear for a while, but couldn’t quite muster up the courage. Share it with us in today’s link up (even if it’s not a hat), and let us encourage you!

Remix Rewear Restyle I Greater Than Rubies

Last week, y’all killed it with your remixes of patterned bottoms (let’s have one last laugh about that wording combo, shall we? :)) I had a really hard time choosing a few looks to feature, so be sure to go back and look at all the amazing inspiration!

Jennie’s look is so lady-like and swoon-worthy!
Jen showed us how she remixes her plaid skirt for every season, and gives tips
for making pieces work year-round.
Maricel rocked her palazzo pants. This might become my summer uniform.

Coming up:
June 23: The Redress Challenge :: DIY
June 30: Flashback :: Take a look from your childhood & give it a grown up spin.

If you’re new, we’re excited you’re here! Remix Rewear Restyle is a weekly challenge to shop your closet and show us how you style a certain piece. Don’t worry about being right or wrong. There aren’t any rules except to include a piece that fits the challenge.
So go shop that closet and link up your look below!

PS I’m taking a week-long break from all things internet, so there will be some posts (and a fun announcement Wednesday!), but if it’s quiet around here, you’ll know why! I’ll see you next week, my dears!

Wowzas! So many things to comment on! :D

Firstly, thanks for the shout out! It’s always both gratifying and humbling when someone acknowledges my little corner of the style blogoverse.

Secondly, that fedora is the bee’s knees! And the different ways you utilized it is definitely Pin-worthy. I especially like the checked tee/shorts combo but you sure can rock the plain tee, girl!

Lastly, you know I plan out my wardrobe week’s in advance so I wanted a heads’ up on next week. DIY means what, exactly? And can it be DIY-ed by someone else because we all know I’m all thumbs. ;p

Oh, and p.ss. – I think we own the same pair of sandals. From Target, yes? ;)

Maricel, sorry for the late response! I was out on vacation and didn’t get a chance to write you back before this week’s challenge. Forgive me? But yes, it can totally be DIY’d by someone else. I just want you to think outside the box! If you’ve got one, link it up! I’m still working on my 3rd DIY since the first 2 failed miserably. Ha. Anyway, sorry again for the late reply- hope you’re having a great week!

That hat looks good on you! I like hats, but fedoras aren’t always my favorite shape. I tend to prefer other shapes for myself, but this hat works for you! I like it with the button-up!
I agree that getting started wearing something new is the hardest. Once you wear it once or twice with no weird looks or awkward moments, you realize it’s not a big deal and it gets so much easier.
I have to say, I’m sad that so many people who used the link up this week did not follow the one and only rule for RRR. Usually people do pretty well, but there are so many hat free links this week! :(

Thanks, Amy! You’re right. It’s probably because I encouraged people to share a look with an item that was out of their comfort zone this week, even if it wasn’t a hat. I think next week it’ll be back to the usual! :)

Caitlin you look great in all 3 outfits. I want one of those Summer Fedora Hats. Yours is so cute. I wore a very similar outfit yesterday (minus the hat) with shorts and a B+W gingham shirt, check it out from June 16’s post. Also, my pleasure to link up today. I showed you a remix of my favorite floppy hat that makes me feel so girly!

Have a great week ahead. <3 Ada.

Thanks so much, Ada! Getting back from vacation, I’m a bit behind on my blog reading, but I’m looking forward to seeing your remix! Hope you’re having a great week!
