i’m reading the book that jen was reading in 7. even though i’ve just come out of one of the busiest times of the year for my job, i am always a get-it-done-as-quickly-and-efficiently-as-possible-without-even-stopping-to-breathe type of person. the past few days of intentionally pausing in my to do’s and praying for a few moments has made an incredible impact on the tone of my day and my attitude. i even found myself¬†more effective at work than when i’m running at 90 miles an hour!

i especially loved this quote i read yesterday, “ask yourself, ‘is it possible to be less busy and still productive?’ is it possible to look at work as a ministry rather than just employment? …throughout the hours of the day, whenever you feel stressed and overwhelmed, instead of pushing yourself to work harder and faster, remember to pause.”

wise words, macrina, wise words.

Wise words, indeed! Looks like we’re in the same boat. I’m in an incredibly busy season, too, and I’m trying really hard to discipline myself to stop and pause to sit with God for a moment. It seems wayyyy easier to push yourself to work harder and faster, but it eventually leads you crashing into a wall when you run out of gas after going 90 miles an hour and not having paused to fill up!

Yes! Yes! Yes! China has (at times) afforded me the opportunity to be more reflective and I never knew what I was missing! I will likely always have a lot of “irons in the fire” but I’m learning to stop long enough to examine why I do some of the things I do. Great gift!
