Make A Difference

If your family makes $50,000 or more a year, you are in the top 1% of earners in the world.*

Excuse me for a moment while I pick my jaw up off the floor. This stat blew my mind. We have so much and are inundated with messages to constantly attain more.

If we aren’t intentional about recognizing that and defining enough in our own life, it won’t happen. That may seem like a big, overwhelming task, but it doesn’t have to be.

Here are a few ways to start making a difference today {with things you’re probably already doing!}:

  • {Pure Charity} Set up a free account and a percentage of your online purchases {from thousands of big name retailers} goes into your Giving Fund, which you can use to fund projects around the world. Shop to help someone adopt, eradicate poverty, end human trafficking…the list goes on.
  • {Gift Card Giver} 8 billion dollars in gift cards goes unused each year. Send in cards, and Gift Card Giver will use them to help others.
  • {Tom’s} One for one. Buy a pair of shoes or glasses, and a pair will go to someone in need.
  • {Marketplace} A new way to shop from Tom’s, where businesses sell items that in one way or another, improve lives. Shop to help a cause or support a region.
  • {Warby Parker} Based on the one for one model; buying a pair of glasses means someone who needs a pair will get one.

Do you know of a similar company? Please comment below so I can add it to the list! Let’s use the things we’re already doing to make a difference.

*I’ve heard this stat multiple times and it’s attributed to MSN Money. I couldn’t find the exact verbage with a google search, but whether it’s current or not, the fact remains we are much richer than we might think.
