it’s not easy being green

my love-hate relationship with running began in the seventh grade, when i decided to join the track team and somehow was picked to run long-distance. i was so nervous at every meet that i almost made myself sick and then i got shin splints.

the next year i decided to try the cross country team. (yes, you read that right. i mean really, what was i thinking? if i hadn’t liked track, why would i think that cross country would be an enjoyable experience?)

after that (for obvious reasons), i broke up with running and turned to dance, winter and colorguard, and tennis to keep in shape.

since high school, my exercise routine (ha) has been hit or miss. i really do love the benefits of running. just not so much the actual activity of running.

but on monday i decided to stop making excuses and i started the couch to 5k challenge. in honor of that, i bring you this.

i might say this about every friends episode, but that is seriously one of my favorites. when i saw the clip, i realized it’s the same one where monica’s crush on kermit comes to light. “did you also have his album ‘it’s not easy being green?!'” aaaaand post title!

i do believe there may be a friends episode that relates to every life situation. or at least every blog post. (do you know how many times i make myself stop before i add another friends quote?) (let’s not go there.)

but do go to the every body every wear¬†post for some seriously great st. patrick’s day outfit inspirations!

Omg, I just happen to see your blog in Everybody every wear and I also just started the c25k program! Way to go girl, I’m so excited to meet your blog, and how stylish you are, I would love to follow you! I’m actually on week 2 day 2 and battling a cold… I’m very upset because I have the desire but my lungs are not ready for it!
Please check my progress if you like…

    Xoxo, milena

I joined track when I was in middle school and faked an illness so I didn’t have to run the 2 mile because I hated it so much! Since then I haven’t been much of a runner.

    Love that blouse!! So pretty

I think we would’ve been (gladly) sitting together on the sidelines! I’m with you. I think the 5k is the most I’ll go. Then I’ll have to move on to some other type of exercise.

And thank you! It’s one of my favorites. Have a wonderful evening!

This is a beautiful, elegant look. The ruffles and the pin stripes. It has been years since I’ve gone running.

    • Caitlin March 14, 2012 at 4:18 PM

Thank you, Terri! I hope you have a lovely night!

    1. So glad you decided to do tennis with me! You were the best doubles partner I could’ve asked for!
    2. I find that every situation in life can somehow be related back to Friends (which ironically I’m watching right now – thank goodness for Nick @ Nite marathons! Because owning all 10 seasons isn’t good enough)
    3. I’m obsessed with your blogs! So is my mom – you’ve inspired her to try to make new outfits out of what she has in her closet!
    4. I’m SO proud of you and love you SO stinking much!!

Steph! You made my day and I miss you SO much. I think a reunion is in order asap!

Totally agree that every situation can be linked to Friends. For fear of being totally obnoxious I probably hold back 60% of the references that pop into my head. Ha :)

And I’m so glad that it’s inspired your mom! Please tell her hello- I miss her and your whole family so.much. Phone date this week? I think yes. LOVE YOU!
