How to Give your Jeans 9 Lives

Save The Jeans

One of my favorite tricks last year was to create something new by dying something old.

I turned some blue jeans into colored jeans, re-dyed a top that had been stained, and well…that’s all my Tuesday brain can think of {is Tuesday harder than Monday for anyone else?}

I may not be as ambitious this year, but I’ve definitely picked up the habit of redying my dark wash jeans that have lost their luster. They go from boo-hoo to be-blue-tiful in just a few hours. {I can’t help it; Tuesday + dead brain = cheesy jokes galore.}

All you need is a stainless steel spoon, a washer and dryer, and a bottle of Rit dye. I’ve tried both navy and denim blue and they work equally as well in my book.

$7 + a few hours > than forking over wads of cash and spending countless hours trying to find jeans that fit my derriere and legs correctly. {I think they should make one of those ‘either’ ‘or’ commercials out of that. Anyone else feel my pain?}

Dear Rit Dye, thank you for saving my jeans and my sanity. You are the best.

Your forever fan,

    Dying your jeans back to blue is genius!!!

      Oo fun! What color are you going to dye your blazer?

    Shopping for jeans is such a pain. I definitely have trouble getting them to fit in all areas. Jean shorts are also a major pain. I actually tried dying some jean shorts this summer, because I had a really old pair that was really light colored, but they were 100% cotton (no stretch), so all the fibers dyed exactly the same and they turned out straight navy blue instead of a more modeled, varied denim. So watch out for that – make sure they are cotton blended with something else!
