good thoughts, good words

glitter girl

honestly, i thought i was pretty selfless before we got married. {um WOW was i wrong.}

thank goodness God’s not done with me yet and troy loves me unconditionally because i can be negative, discouraging, and sometimes downright mean.

as part of this month, i’m trying hard to honor troy with the words that come out of my mouth. that’s kind of vague, so here are the ways i’m intentionally doing that:

  • memorizing scripture
  • reading love and respect {this book is helping me realize the words i choose are so {SO!} important in either honoring or disrespecting troy. even if i don’t feel loved by him, i should still honor him with my words. because, let’s face it: he does love me, our marriage does not revolve around me, and my feelings are {very} fickle.}
  • i’m also trying to evaluate my choices and determine if they’re good or bad for our relationship to make the appropriate adjustments. ie: i quit the paleo diet because this is me when i’m hungry.

so far, making a conscious effort to be gracious with my words affects my thoughts positively and vice versa.

you know what else has an ‘every time’ reaction? feeling like i’m doing a really great job always leads to my pride getting the best of me and i lose my temper.

    Great post. And so encouraging! Btw, Love and Respect is so good. Just keeping the main idea of it in mind had me reevaluating most of my words/actions.
