friends, teal pants; teal pants, friends

meet my new pants!

not only has my attitude about shopping changed this year, but the way i care for my clothes has taken a turn for the better, too.  in the past, when something got a hole or started to fade, i would immediately get rid of it. these days, i consider whether i can do something to fix it first. can i patch it? dye it? cut it apart?

my favorite fix is dyeing. it’s like having a brand-new item of clothing. believe it or not, these pants were blue jeans once upon a time. i used to wear them all the time, but they started looking really faded and i moved on, leaving them to sit in a drawer.

those days are gone.

wow Cait, I would never guess they were blue jeans before!

So last night I was sitting in the bleachers at my softball games and a group of girls starts talking about Kendi. Of course I chimed in with “Kendi Everyday?” since I’m not sure I know of any other Kendi’s. They FREAKED and started talking about Bloom, etc. etc. and when I told them I knew you and that you modeled the look book- well, instant celebrity status. You’re famous! ha!

Wow, those look fantastic! I’m impressed that they went from that dark gray blue to such a vibrant teal. How did you do it?? RIT dye??

Thank you so much, Merrick! I’m going to post today about how I did it, but yes. It was RIT dye. Hope you’re having a great weekend!

I did the same thing with my Jeans! Did you bleach yours first, before dying??

    • Caitlin May 27, 2012 at 6:44 AM

Oo! What color did you do? Yes, I did bleach them first.

      • Rose May 27, 2012 at 4:32 PM

I wanted them to be red, but the bleach turned my jeans yellow! I died them anyways and the color actually turned out to be a gorgeous coral color:)

Rit makes a color stripper that might work really well so that you could color the next pair red.
