Dressed Up & Dressed Down Valentine’s Day Looks

I am so excited to partner with Live & Prosper for Free Style, a monthly column.

Jason and Heather Reynolds, L&P’s owners and publishers, are some of the kindest people I know. Their heart for Prosper and the surrounding community is evident in their actions. They’re constantly going above and beyond to bless others {I’ve seen this up close at my day job} and it’s an honor to be part of the things they’re doing in North Texas.

Free Style’s premise is similar to GTR; my goal is to teach women how to shop their closets & make the most of what they have. Each month, I’ll share a snippet of the column, with a link to the online magazine so you can check it out.

February’s column features Dressed Up & Dressed Down Valentine’s Day Looks. {Click to page 27 for the full article.}

Sneak peek: This look hints at the holiday without being over the top. Trouser jeans are a great fit for all body types- look for a cut that falls in a straight line from the waist to the ground to elongate the leg. Add a pair of wedges to dress up your look without without worrying about stability. It’s also the perfect time to experiment with mixing reds, burgundys, and pinks without feeling self-conscious. Blame St. Valentine!

    Truth be told, my husband and I don’t make a big deal out of Valentine’s Day. We exchange cards, and he might give me flowers / candy, but we don’t usually go out. I celebrate with my children instead (St. Valentine’s original “love letters” were friendly notes exchanged with children). We dress in red / pink / heart print, and have a tea party! We make heart shaped mini pizzas and sugar cookies, read Valentine’s Day books, and drink “tea” (apple juice) from my Red Willow tea set. Fun!
    I will probably wear my “Everlasting Love” sweatshirt this year.

      Selah, you are such a great mom! I love getting glimpses into how intentional you are with your kids.

    Wow, Caitlin! What a cool opportunity! I’m actually quite excited for Valentine’s Day this year. My handsome man is taking me to a Valentine’s Day ball at the French Embassy. I get to wear a floor-length gown!

      Ah!! Whitney, that is SO fun! I want to hear all about it! What does your dress look like?

    How great to be featured like that! So exciting. Congrats, Caitlin!
    I don’t know what I’m wearing because I don’t know what we’re doing, if anything. My sister and her boyfriend might be driving over to hang out with us for the weekend, and we might go to a hockey game – their current school is playing the school I graduated from that night. We’ll see!

      Thank you, Amy.

      That’s fun! How cool that you have a hockey team. Down here in Texas, we barely know what hockey is ;)

        Haha, I didn’t even think about that being so rare there! Hockey is a pretty big deal around here – hockey is definitely more important than football at colleges in the U.P. My sister’s school doesn’t even have a football team, but they have a good hockey team! Totally different than down there!

      Thanks for the heads up, Selah- they should be working now.
