1950’s inspiration


i know i said the forties were my fave in my last post, but the fifties. ahhh the fifties. they brought:

ladies, i’m coming to the conclusion that nothing we wear today is really “new.”

this discovery is like the grown up, shopaholic’s version of finding out santa isn’t real. sad, and a little disappointing that all these cool, new trends are really, old, classic ones.

but just as quickly as the sadness hits, the excitement takes over. do you know what this means? we can build our wardrobes on pieces that will continue to be “new” over and over and over again.

y’all. we.have.beaten.them. {and by them i mean the voices in my head that continually try to tell me i need to add this new, cool piece into my closet. and the fashion industry that does the same thing.} #internethighfive

alright, moving on. let’s look at some updated twists on the fifties:

    If you love Audrey Hepburn and 1950s fashion then you must watch Sabrina (1953 version -available on Netflix – your Audrey pin above is a publicity shot from Sabrina) and Funny Face (1957 – try the library). These are some of the best fashion films EVER.
